Nuclear Magnetic Resonance: a New Tool for the Validation of Multiphase Multidimensional Cfd Codes
نویسنده
چکیده
Turbulent transport models and data in bubbly flows are briefly reviewed since they play an important role in the modeling of boiling flows in forced convection. Shortcomings of earlier measurements of the eddy diffusivity by NMR (Lemonnier & Leblond, 2007b) are analyzed and a new procedure is presented which is now consistent with the procedure of Gatenby & Gore (1994) developed for single-phase turbulent flow characterization. The new estimate agrees with those obtained by Serizawa et al. (1975b) with a thermal method and with the model of Sato & Sadatomi (1981). This procedure also provides the liquid velocity fluctuation RMS and the Lagrangian correlation time of velocity fluctuations. In addition, the same NMR technique provides also the area-averaged liquid velocity and void fraction. Bubbly flow data up to transition to slug flow are provided which also agree with exiting drift-flux models (Ishii & Hibiki, 2006). It is finally discussed how the NMR method can be extended to local measurements and may provide a fully non intrusive diagnostic in two-phase flows and which is not limited to bubbly flow.

Designing and Fabrication of a New Radiofrequency Planar microcoil for mini-Nuclear Magnetic Resonance
Introduction Radiofrequency planar microcoils are used to increase the resolution of magnetic resonance images of small samples. In this study, we aimed to design and fabricate a spiral planar microcoil constructed on a double-sided printed circuit board (PCB). It has four rings with an internal diameter of 241 microns tuned and matched at 63.8 MHz. Materials and Methods To achieve the maximum ...
متن کاملGeometric distortion evaluation of magnetic resonance images by a new large field of view phantom for magnetic resonance based radiotherapy purposes
Background: The magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based radiotherapy planning method have been considered in recent years because of the advantages of MRI and the problems of planning with two images modality. The first step in MRI-based radiotherapy is to evaluate magnetic resonance (MR) images geometric distortion. Therefore, the present study aimed to evaluate system related geometric distort...
متن کاملValidation of Cfd Models for Mono- and Polydisperse Air-water Two-phase Flows in Pipes
Many flow regimes in Nuclear Reactor Safety (NRS) Research are characterized by multiphase flows, where one of the phases is continuous and the other phase consists of gas or vapor of the liquid phase. The validation of the CFD multiphase flow models against detailed experimental data for simplified flow configurations is a basic requirement for the accurate prediction of more complex flows, li...
